Conspicuous Consumption is Over?
Talking to all my friends in fashion, the one word I hear over and over again is: minimalistic. The budgets are going minimalistic; the designs are, as well.
Donna Karan is cutting back; Gucci is too. They've cut back their production capacity for their more conspicuous labels and logos. and replacing them with more modest, humble designs -- symbolic of the greater financial downturn happening around them.
